Lloyd Knight's in Hollidaysburg. At about 11 o'clock, a Mr. Wortz, in company with Miss Caldwell, (daughter of Hon. David Caldwell, of Hollidaysburg,) started for home, in a buggy, and when opposite Confer's Hotel, in Gaysport, the horse became frightened at a light, and one of the reins broke. - Mr. Wortz immediately jumped out and endeavored to catch the horse, but did not succeed. The affrighted animal then turned and ran about a hundred yards when Miss Caldwell jumped out, fell on her head and was so badly hurt that she never spoke, but died about 2 o'clock, - This is a heart-rending circumstance, indeed. At the time of the accident, the Judge was away from home, attending a meeting at the Farmers' High School, in Centre county. Truly "in the midst of life we are in death. On last Tuesday a week, we met Miss Caldwell at the Camp Meeting, near Hollidaysburg. She was about 20 years of age, blooming in health, and was an interesting and intelligent young lady.
