Those Which Have Taken Place in or Near Altoona. At the residence of her youngest son, David B. Calvert, Fairview, at twenty minutes of 8 o'clock yesterday morning Mrs. Elizabeth Calvert, relict of Michael Calvert, passed peacefully away into the realms of eternity. Her death was from disease incident to old age. Born in Cumberland county on the 11th day of June, 1817, the daughter of John and Margaret Sipe, she early became a resident of what is now known as Blair county, coming to the vicinity of Altoona in 1846, the year in which the county was created. She was a dutiful wife, a devoted mother and an earnest Christian woman. From her early girlhood she was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church and at the time of her death belonged to the congregation which worships in the church which has recently been erected in Fairview and of which Rev. L. F. Smith is pastor. Her husband died in 1879. Mrs. Calvert leaves three sons - J. L., S. M., and David B. At the time of death she was aged 73 years, 4 months and 19 days. Her funeral will take place from her son's residence on Saturday morning at 10 o'clock. The interment will be in Fairview cemetery. Morning Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Friday, October 31, 1890 The Late Mrs. Elizabeth Calvert. Mrs. Elizabeth Calvert departed this life on the morning of October 30 and was buried on Saturday morning, November 1. She leaves a large circle of relatives to mourn their loss, among whom are her brother, Mr. Daniel Sipe, of Shelby, Ohio; H. Hawk, Mrs. John S. Calvert, W. H. Calvert, Mrs. Margaret Steckman, Simon P., Calvert, of Colorado, J. L. Calvert, S. M. Calvert and D. B. Calvert, and also thirty-four grandchildren. She was born in Cumberland county, removed to and lived in Blair county the greater portion of her life. She was a member of the Methodist church at Fairview and hers was a triumphant and peaceful death. Morning Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Wednesday, November 5, 1890
