Calvert, 89, formerly of 405 Hickory St., Hollidaysburg, died Friday, March 12, 2004, at Presbyterian Home of Hollidaysburg. She was born May 9, 1914, in Altoona, a daughter of Milton and Ruth (Beck) Logue. She married Boyd L. Calvert in Cumberland, Md. He died July 16, 1995. Mrs. Calvert was a member of Frankstown Park Missionary Church. She was a piano teacher for many years, teaching hundreds of students. Mrs. Calvert was a 1932 graduate of Altoona High School. She enjoyed crocheting. Mrs. Calvert taught Sunday school. She was a Republican Committeewoman and was active in her church and in politics. Surviving are a son, David and wife, Colleen, of Duncansville; two daughters: Linda Helsley and husband, David, of Somerset and Barbara Sparr and husband, Ed, of Alexandria; 11 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by a brother, Wayne, in 2003. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Frankstown Park Missionary Church by the Rev. Roland Cadle. Interment at Alto-Reste Park. The family suggest donations be made to Presbyterian Home or Frankstown Park Missionary Church in memory of Madalene. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Plank, Stitt & Stevens Funeral Home. Altoona Mirror, March 14, 2004, page A11
