He was a son of Thomas E. and Elizabeth (Elder) Campbell, and was graduated in 1902 from Princeton university as a civil engineer, spending some years in Mexico as an engineer. Later he became interested in landscape gardening and general art, being a member of the art colony at Suffern in recent years and having pictures exhibited in New York city. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ruth Campbell, who is headmistress of Greenwich academy, Greenwich, Conn.; one daughter, Frances, in England, and one sister, Mrs. Alvan R.
