Mrs. Candy was born July 8, 1872 at Port Matilda, the daughter of James and Priscilla (Weaver) Murray. She was married in 1895 in Tyrone to Clarence P. Candy of Howard, who preceded her in death. Surviving are one son, James Leroy Candy of Tyrone; one grandson, John C. Candy of Tyrone, four brothers, John of Warriors Mark, Allison of Tyrone, Harry and Raymond Murray, both of Altoona. She was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren church of Tyrone, a charter member of the auxiliary to the B. of R. T. and member of the auxiliary to the Neptune Fire company of Tyrone.
