All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/blair/ _________________________________________ DEATH OF MISS BESSIE CANN A Well-known Young Lady Expires This Morning Miss Bessie Cann, a young lady who, during the short time she has lived in this city, had made a large number of friends, died this morning at 7:45 o'clock at the home of her parents No. 128 Maple Avenue. About two years ago, Mr. Cann, who had been an employee in one of the Penn Traffic Company's stores in Blair County, removed with his family from Hollidaysburg to this city, and is connected with the stores here. Miss Bessie at once obtained a position as book-keeper in the Company's store, where she was a very faithful employee. Last summer, while Mr. Lorentz was in Chicago, she acted as chief clerk. She as for three years been a sufferer from bronchitis, and during the month of January last was stricken with a severe attack of la grippe, which finally developed into consumption, from which her death resulted. Miss Bessie was confined to her bed for only one month. The deceased was born in Hollidaysburg in August 1868. She is survived by her father and two sisters, Misses Stella and Bertha. The remains will be taken to Hollidaysburg Saturday morning on the Day Express. Religious services will be conducted at the house before leaving for the train and also at Hollidaysburg. Internment will be made in the Lutheran Cemetery at that place. The Tribune, Johnstown, Pa, July 10, 1894
