LOTTIE MAE CARLES 

Of Pinecroft, died at 9:55 p.m. yesterday in the Altoona Hospital, 
where she was admitted Sunday after an extended illness.  She was born 
in Altoona, Nov. 14, 1892, a daughter of Philip and Mary Jane (Smith) 
Benner, and Sept 6, 1909, married Jesse L. Carles.  Surviving are her 
husband, a son, Philip J. of Pinecroft; one grandchild, two great-
grandchildren, a sister and two brothers, Mrs. Vera Fitzgerald of 
Harrisburg, Clarence E. and Earl of Altoona.  Mrs. Carles was a member 
of the First Church of Christ, Altoona, the D. of A., Ladies Auxiliary 
to the B. of R. T. and Patriot Militants of Roaring Spring.  Friends 
will be received in the Johnson Funeral Home, Bellwood, from 7 to 9 
p.m. today, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 tomorrow.
