Mrs. Anna Jane Carney, wife of Joseph Carney, of 1616 Sixteenth street, died at her home Wednesday evening after a lingering illness with a complication of diseases. Deceased was born in Emlenton, Venango county, March 18, 1834. She came to Altoona in 1855 and had resided here ever since. During the year 1858 she was married to Joseph Carney, who, with two children, James, of Philadelphia, and Annie, at home, survives. The following sisters are also yet living: Mrs. McCormick and Mrs. Wingle, of Nashville, Tenn., and Mrs. Jones, of West Austintown, O. The deceased was a lady of excellent Christian character and was greatly beloved by all who knew her. Altoona Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Thursday, January 5, 1899
