Carney died at his home, 504 Seventh avenue on Saturday afternoon at 12.30 o'clock, death being caused by a complication of diseases. He was a veteran engineer for the Pennsy and would have retired in January, had he lived. Mr. Carney was born in Gallitzin on Oct. 22, 1853, and came to this city at the age of 8 years. Since the age of 19 he has been employed in the local yards as an engineer, seeing service in this capacity for forty-six years. His wife preceded him to the grave five years ago. He was a member of St. Mark's Catholic church and the Brotherhood of Engineers and the Pennsy relief. Surviving are the following children: Edward, Frank and Vincent, Mrs. Wilbert Chevalier, Mrs. Samuel Swanger, Mrs. Jeff Davis, all of this city, and Olive, of Pittsburgh and one sister and one brother, Mrs. Robert Stauffer and Thomas Carney, both of this city. The Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers will conduct funeral services at the late residence this evening at 8 o'clock. Altoona Times, Altoona, Pa., Monday Morning, December 16, 1918 FUNERAL NOTICES.
