G. ELMER CAROTHERS

Of 908 N. 5th St., Bellwood, died at 7:45 p.m. yesterday after an 
extended illness.  He was born in Bellwood on June 6, 1887, a son of 
William J. and Susanna (Douglass)Carothers and in 1914, in 
Hollidaysburg, married Mae Elizabeth Brown who died in 1953. Surviving 
are five children, Cecil E. of Juniata, Walter S. and Mrs. Elsie 
Partner of Bellwood, Charles E. of Altoona, and Willard D., of Angola, 
N.Y., 21 grandchildren, one great grandchild, and five brothers and 
sisters, Sylvester, Mrs. Gertrude Taylor and Mrs. Abigail Baker of 
Bellwood, Mrs. Laura Wilt of Martinsburg and Mrs. Verna Estep of Grand 
Rapids, Mich.  He was a member of the Assembly of God, Bellwood, and 
retired in 1947 as a boilermaker for the P.R.R. at Juniata, after 48 
years of service.  Friends will be received at the Johnson Mortuary, 
Bellwood after 7 p.m. today.
