Carothers, 57, of Grazierville, died Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at 5:43 p.m. at Tyrone Hospital. He was born November 11, 1947 in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Walter S. and Ruth (McFarland) Carothers. He has been married to Irene F. Riggleman for the past 25 years. Surviving is his wife, a daughter Leslie at home, a son Michael of Tyrone, two granddaughters, Bobbi Jo and Kali Jean, two brothers Walt and wife Judy of Altoona, Blair and wife Darla of Bellwood and a sister Mary Hollen and husband Duane of Bellwood. He was preceded in death by a nephew Duane Hollen of Bellwood who died in the Persian Gulf War. Mr. Carothers retired in 2002 from the Bellwood Antis School District as maintenance foreman of the bus garage following 10 years service. He was previously employed at James Industries, Hollidaysburg for 10 years. He was of the Protestant faith and a member of the Handyman Club, NRA and AARP. He served as Tyrone Youth Football coach from 1982-1990. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan and enjoyed his 1957 Chevy. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 1, 2005 at 1 p.m. at Feller Memorial Home with Rev. Michelle Somerville officiating. Interment will follow at Alto Rest Park, Altoona. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of services. Tyrone Daily Herald, March 31, 2005
