CAROTHERS Of 312 22nd Ave., a locomotive engineer on the Allegheny Division of the Penn Central Railroad, died at 7:55 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, 1974, in Altoona Hospital, after a brief illness. He was born Jan. 29, 1910, in Altoona, a son of Joshua E. and Clyde (Leamer) Carothers, and married Thelma E. Hay. Surviving are his wife, four children, Donald A. and David L. of Altoona, Terry L. of Ashville, Ohio, and Miss Kathy A. at home; eight grandchildren, a brother and a sister Kenneth and Mrs. Belva Stayer of Altoona. Mr. Carothers was a member of the United Transportation Union. He served with Troop C, 104th Cavalry, Pennsylvania National Guard, in the 1930s. Friends will be received in the Carn Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday.
