SYLVESTER C. CAROTHERS

Of Tyrone RD 2, Box 141, died at 3:45 p.m. yesterday, April 28, 1976, 
at his home, after an extended illness.  Mr. Carothers retired Nov. 1, 
1966, from the Pennsylvania Railroad as a blacksmith with 26 years' 
service. He was born Nov. 19, 1902, in Bellwood, a son of William C. 
and Susanna (Douglas) Carothers, and married Mabel I. Traunter on Dec. 
13, 1936.  Surviving are his wife, a son, Paul W. of State College; 
three grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Verna Estep of Chattanooga, 
Tenn.  Mr. Carothers was a member of the Bellwood Assembly of God 
Church.  Friends will be received in the Charles W. Russin Funeral 
Home, Bellwood, from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. 
tomorrow.
