CARROLL

  Mrs. Martha Carroll, wife of William Carroll of 909 Third avenue, 
died at the home yesterday morning at 2 o'clock, following a stroke of 
paralysis.  She was born in Blair county on Feb. 21, 1845, and resided 
in this county all her life.  She was a member of the Mt. Carmel 
Catholic church and the Society of St. Anthony.  She is survived by her 
husband and the following children, John, George and Vincent, all of 
Altoona, and Mary at home and two grandchildren, Anna and Mildred 
Singer, both of Homestead.  The funeral will be held on Saturday 
morning with requiem mass at the Mt. Carmel church at 9 o'clock.  
Interment will be made in St. John's cemetery.
