Mr. Edward Cassidy Passes Away Very Unexpectedly at Noon Yesterday. We are sorry to chronicle the death of Mr. Edward Cassidy, sr., which occurred at his residence, at 1801 Ninth avenue, yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock, caused by a stroke of apoplexy. He left home yesterday morning feeling very well. As he was returning at noon from his daily work in the shops he was seen to stagger and fall. Kind hands soon lifted the old gentleman and a passing sled conveyed him to his home. Dr. Cherry was called and did all that was possible for the suffering man. Before he sank Rev. Father Smith administered the last rites of the Catholic church, of which the deceased was a devout member. He leaves an aged wife and a grown up son to mourn their loss. Mr. Cassidy's friends were legion, he had no enemies and was highly respected by all who knew him. He was born in Ireland, was about 75 years old, came to this country about forty-four years ago and has resided in Altoona ever since. The bereaved wife and son have the sympathy of the entire community in their sad loss. The funeral services will be held at the Sacred Heart church. The time not being as yet decided on, will be announced later. Altoona Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Wednesday, February 13, 1895, page 1 The body of the late Edward Cassidy will be buried in St. John's Cemetery tomorrow morning. The funeral cortege will leave the late residence of the deceased at 8 o'clock. Solemn high mass of requiem will be celebrated in the Sacred Heart Catholic church.
