Cassidy, well known by many Blair countians, died on Monday, August 12. He was born December 20, 1889, and reared at Blairsville, and was married on December 24, 1860, to Miss Caroline M. Johnson, of Bellefonte. He enlisted in 1862 as a musician in company H, 148th regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteers, and was later transferred to the veteran reserve corps. He was discharged at Elmira and went to Canton in 1865. Mr. Cassidy was a prominent figure in municipal affairs, having served a term as mayor, and also having been on the board of health, board of education, humane society and city council. He was in the job printing business. Mr. Cassidy was a member of McKinley post, G.A.R., one of the oldest Masons in Canton, member of the Odd Fellows, and a charter member of the First Methodist Episcopal church. He was also a teacher of one of the Sunday school classes in that church. He leaves six children - Wilbur, of Bellefonte, Pa.; Mrs. John Fasnaught, Margaret, Mrs. Leonard Betz, Mrs. L.
