All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/blair/ _________________________________________ SAMUEL CASSIDY Samuel Cassidy, veteran of the Civil war and retired P.R.R. employe, died at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon following a stroke of paralysis. Deceased was born near Newry on October 5, 1836, and resided in Altoona and Blair county the greater part of his life. He was retired from the employ of the company twelve years ago. In the Civil war he served with Company A, Second regiment artillery, and was honorably discharged after three years of service. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic church. Surviving are his widow, one son, J. Elmer Cassidy, and one daughter, Mrs. Lizzie Weaver, all of this city. The funeral will take place from the residence of Elmer Cassidy, at 960 Thirty-first street, on Saturday morning. The funeral procession will leave the house at 9:30, followed by mass at the Sacred Heart church at 10 o'clock in the morning. Interment will be made in St. John's cemetery.
