Lawson Childneck, of East Sharpsburg, died on the 12th inst. He was in very good health until last Friday evening. During the day he was engaged in putting away apples. He ate several that had been frost-bitten. He immediately took ill, his physician was summoned, but could not give any relief. Several other physicians were also called to consult but his case baffled the skill of all. It was a very peculiar one. Mr. Childneck had great faith in the Christian religion. He was received into membership in the Reformed Church by Rev. Wolf. His remains were taken to Hagerstown, Md., the place of his nativity, for interment yesterday. His brother, Mr. W. D. Childneck, from Hagerstown, was here and accompanied the remains. Mr. Childneck was an industrious and careful man. He leaves a wife and several children. He was about 45 years of age. He formerly was employed in the shops in Altoona, being a blacksmith by trade. Morning Tribune, Altoona, Saturday, November 15, 1879
