A Former Blair Countian's Death in Denver, Colorado. The many friends in this county of John Christy, a former resident of Hollidaysburg, will be grieved to hear of his death, which occurred at Denver, Colorado, at 6 o'clock on Sunday evening last. He had been in failing health for some two months past, but was only confined to his bed for two or three days previous to his death. John Christy was born in the town of Duncansville, this county, about thirty-five years ago, and the greater part of his brief life was spent in that place and Hollidaysburg, During the war he was with his father, the late Dr. R. W. Christy, sr., serving in the capacity of hospital steward. For several years afterwards he was passenger and freight agent at Hollidaysburg, and in that capacity won the regard of the traveling and business public by his genial and accommodating ways. When the office of secretary of internal affairs was organized under General William McCandless, Mr. Christy was appointed to a clerkship therein, remaining there until the accession of the present incumbent. So well did he discharge the duties of his position that he was a favorite with J. Simpson Africa, at that time chief clerk, and now secretary of internal affairs-elect, and it is believed that he would have returned to his old post in the spring had his life been spared. Some three years ago he removed to Denver, Colorado, where he had charge of a supply bureau, supplying men to railroad construction companies. He stood well in that community. The deceased was a son of the late Dr. R. W. Christy, Sr., of Hollidaysburg. His brothers were Dr. R. W. Christy, of Elizabeth Furnace, this county, William Christy, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Arthur Christy, of Scranton, Pa., and Lloyd Christy, of New Mexico; Mrs. H. M. Baldrige, of Hollidaysburg, and Miss Mary Chiristy, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, were his sisters. The funeral will be held from the residence of H. M. Baldridge, Esq., Hollidaysburg at a date to be announced in the future. John Christy was a kind-hearted gentleman, well thought of by all who knew him and many of our readers will sorrow at his early death. Peace to his ashes.
