Christy, brother of Dr. J. T. Christy, of this city, died in Cincinnati Tuesday morning of inflammation of the brain. He was born in Cambria county, near Loretto, and was about 50 years of age. He had been a very successful railroad contractor for many years and was at one time in very good circumstances, although we have not been informed of what business he had been following recently. He lived in Gallitzin nearly all his life time and only went to Cincinnati last fall on account of failing health. His family remained in Gallitzin. His remains will be brought back to Gallitzin and buried on Thursday morning in the Catholic cemetery at that place. He was married to Miss Ann Conrad, a daughter of James Conrad, of Newry, who with five children survive him. Mr. Christy had an extensive acquaintance throughout the state and was universally respected. He enlisted in the Eighty-fourth regiment Pennsylvania volunteers and served until the end of the war, part of the time as sutler. Altoona Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Thursday, June 22, 1882
