Donald Chronister, 76, of RD3 Box 360K, Tyrone, died Monday, May 7, 2007 at the Altoona Regional Health System-Altoona Hospital Campus. He was born August 4, 1930 at Warriors Mark, a son of Willis Grazier "Jack" Chronister and Mildred Mae (Etters). He was married August 27, 1949 at Winchester, Va. to Mary Marko. He is survived by his wife Mary and a brother Wendell Chronister (Jeanny) of Portersville, Pa. Also surviving are half sisters: Eileen Murray (James) of Warriors Mark, Donna Jean McClellan (James) of Bald Eagle and Janice Lannen (Tom) of Bald Eagle; a half brother, Jim Chronister (Sandra) of Bald Eagle and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Elaine Chronister; a son, Dennis A. Chronister and brothers, Martin and Kenneth. He attended Bald Eagle Methodist Church. He was a lifelong mechanic, beginning at age 12 working in his father's garage in Warriors Mark until 1949. Then working with Bob DeMay Buick in Tyrone until purchasing the DeMay Building and selling International Vehicle Products. He then purchased the Black Building at Fuoss Mills and established the Sunlight Solariums and garden products with his son Dennis until 1986. He sold the business and kept his own auto garage at his home in Bald Eagle to date. He was truly an honest man and enjoyed tinkering with clocks. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 11, 2007 at 2 p.m. at the Bald Eagle Methodist Church with Rev. A. Michele Somerville officiating. Interment will follow at Bald Eagle Cemetery. The casket will be closed. Friends will be received at the Bald Eagle Methodist Church one hour before the service on Friday.
