All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/blair/ _________________________________________ HENRY CLAPPER Henry Clapper, a retired employe of the Pennsylvania Railroad company, died at 7 o'clock yesterday morning at the home of his son, Samuel R. Clapper, of 613 Twenty-third street, of cerebral hemorrhages. Mr. Clapper was born January 27, 1843, at Piney Creek, now known as Franklin Forge, Blair county, the son of Henry and Susan Clapper, deceased. His early days were spent on the family farm. At the age of 22 he was married to Miss Elizabeth Shultzaberger, who died seventeen years ago. For six years after his marriage Mr. Clapper resided at Franklin Forge, later farming at Canoe Creek and later in Scotch valley. He later spent eleven years in the service of the Cambria Iron company, and ended his service with them to take a position with the Canan Stone company, at Frankstown. He came to Altoona in 1892 and resided here ever since, beginning his service with the Pennsy company as a sweeper in 1892, he was transferred to the Twelfth street shops, serving in the cutting department for nine years. He was retired from the service in 1913, after suffering a stroke. He is survived by the following children: Mrs. C. P. Werts and William H., of Altoona; Harry O., of Pittsburg; Andrew, of Mt. Union; Samuel R., Mrs. Edward Vaughn and Ralph E. Clapper of Altoona. He was a member of the Grace Reformed church. The funeral will be held with services at 2.30 o'clock on Friday afternoon, in charge of the Rev. A. C. Renoll. Interment will be made in Fairview cemetery.
