Robert Clinger, 74, 619 Bell Ave., died Monday, Dec. 28, 1998, at his residence, following an extended illness. He was born June 17, 1924, in Altoona, the son of Harry Ralph and Gladys M. (Robison) Clinger. Mr. Clinger retired from GTE in 1981 and Phillips ECG in 1985. He was a 1942 graduate of Altoona High School. Mr. Clinger was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving as a torpedoman second class with PT Squadron No. 2. He enjoyed records and tapes of the big band era. Mr. Clinger was a member of the Heidelberg Country Club and the Jaffa Shrine. Surviving are a son, Thomas of Jacksonville, Fla.; and three sisters: Shirley Williamson, with whom he resided, Winifred Schultz of Hollidaysburg and Sharon Wayne of Winston-Salem, N.C.
