Quite a distressing accident occurred near this place, yesterday morning, resulting in the death of James Cobel, night watchman on the track above this place. As the Fast Line east was approaching this station a man was seen sitting on the track. The whistle was sounded, and the man jumped up, probably bewildered, as he had evidently been sleeping, but instead of getting out of the way of the train, he stepped upon the track, was struck by the engine and instantly killed. He leaves a wife and two children. Altoona Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Saturday, May 12, 1866, page 3
