After an illness of two weeks, Mr. Matthew Coleman, proprietor of the Red Lion hotel, Tenth avenue, between Eleventh and Twelfth streets, died at his home at 7 o'clock Sunday morning. The deceased was born in county Waterford, Ireland, and was 63 years of age. He came to the United States about forty- one years ago and for thirty years of this time had been a resident of Hollidaysburg. Some ten years ago he removed to Altoona and engaged in the hotel business at the corner of Ninth avenue and Twelfth street. He afterward moved to the Red Lion hotel, of which he has been the proprietor for about five years. His wife survives him and he also leaves three daughters and one son, the names of the children being Mollie, Kate, Nora and Matthew. The deceased was a member of St. John's Catholic church. Mr. Coleman also leaves one sister, Mrs. Bridget McSwigegan, of Pittsburgh. Altoona Tribune, March 21, 1889
