Confer, of 1600 Sixteenth street, died at the Mercy hospital at 3.15 o'clock yesterday afternoon of apoplexy. She suffered a stroke of paralysis on Thursday afternoon at 3.30 o'clock at her home and was removed to the Mercy a short time afterward. Her condition was serious and a second stroke yesterday afternoon resulted in death. Confer, of Johnstown, July 17, 1866, and the couple spent the first three years of their married life in the oil country in the vicinity of Titusville, where Mr. Confer was engaged in the oil industry. They then came to this city, where they have lived for the last forty-three years. She is survived by her husband and one sister, Mrs. Joseph Krouse, of Johnstown, and one son, Frank, of this city. The deceased woman was a member of St. John's Catholic church. Funeral announcements will be made later. Altoona Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Saturday, January 30, 1915, page 16
