CONRAD Funeral Rites Set Tomorrow Funeral services for Frank J. Conrad of 524 Vickroy Avenue, 85-year-old pensioner of Lorain Division, Carnegie-Illinois Steel Corporation, whose death occurred Monday morning at his home, will be conducted at 10 o'clock tomorrow morning at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery, in charge of Undertaker S. J. Conway. Mr. Conrad was born at Newry, Blair County, on February 9, 1855. His father, Michael J. Conrad, was also a native of Newry and his mother, Mrs. Rebecca (Christy) Conrad was born in Mercer County. She moved to Loretto with her family at an early age. The deceased parents were among the first parishioners of Prince Gallitzin, the Prince-Priest of the Alleghenies. Frank J. Conrad came to this city with his family when he was 13 years of age and on July 1, 1879, he was united in marriage with Anna Marie Burkhard. His wife died on February 21, 1936. Mr. Conrad was first employed here by the old Cambria Iron Company and served that concern until 1890 when he entered the employ of the Lorain Steel Company. He remained with that company until his retirement about 20 years ago. Two brothers and two sisters of the deceased survive. They are Charles B. Conrad, Altoona; Harry J. Conrad, Park Avenue; Mrs. Thomas Egan, Golde Street, and Sister M. Loyola of the Sisters of Charity, stationed at Seton Hill College, Greensburg. Two brothers, John and William, were drowned in the Flood of 1889. A brother Albert died shortly after the turn of the century and a sister, Mrs. J. C. Larkin, passed away several years ago. Several other brothers and sisters died in infancy. Mr. Conrad was the father of eight children, all of whom are living. The are John J. Conrad, intermarried with Anne Trout, 836 Vickroy Avenue; Mrs. Mary C. Haws, 220 Market Street; Agnes, wife of J. E. Graham, Galion, O.; Anna, wife of William Kirchner, 161 Coal Street; Gertrude, wife of Burgess Frank M. Craig of 992 Ferndale Avenue; L. M. Conrad, intermarried with Esther Cramer, Keyser Apartments, Franklin Street; Francis H. Conrad, intermarried with Viola Custer, Kemmer Street, and Marguerite, wife of Joseph C. Kelly, 524 Vickroy Avenue. He also leaves nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, the latter being Joey and Bobby Katzenstein, children of Mr. and Mrs. Perry J. Katzenstein of 415 Vickroy Avenue. Frank Conrad was the oldest member and a charter member of the Ferndale Civic Club. He was affiliated with the Knights of St. George, the Holy Name Society and the Veteran Employes Club of Lorain Division, Carnegie-Illinois Steel Corporation.
