He had gone to the mountain to gather berries, and when a short distance above Altoona attempted to jump on a passing train and was thrown under the cars. One of his legs was horribly crushed, and he was otherwise so much injured as to cause his death the next day. Another sad warning to the many already on record of the folly and danger of attempting to jump either on or off cars when in motion.
