Mrs. Elizabeth Cook, widow of Christian Cook, who preceded her to the spirit land some twenty years, died at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. John A. Fogle, 435 Third avenue, at 5:15 o'clock yesterday morning. She was ill about ten days, having been attacked by la grippe, which culminated in catarrhal pneumonia. Mrs. Cook was a native of Engelsdorf, Germany, where she was born April 14, 1811, so that she had just completed her 80th year. She came to this country about 1844 with her husband and settled in Philadelphia, removing thence to Bellefonte and afterwards to Hollidaysburg, where many years of her life were spent. About eleven years ago she came to this city, making her home with her daughter, Mrs. John A. Fogle, where she remained until her death. Mrs. Cook is survived by five children. These are: John W. Cook, of Hollidaysburg; Mrs. Annie Meher, of Philadelphia; Mrs. Gertrude Metzger, of Hollidaysburg; Harry L. Cook, of Parkersburg, W.Va., and Mrs. John A. Fogle, of Altoona. She was a kind mother, a good neighbor, a faithful member of the Catholic church. The funeral will take place to-morrow morning, leaving the residence at 7.15 sharp, and proceeding to Hollidaysburg by train where requiem mass will be celebrated in St. Michael's German Catholic church, after which interment will be made in St. Mary's cemetery.
