Baird of 718 Seventh avenue, Juniata, died early this morning at her home after a lengthy illness. She was born Oct. 25, 1877, in Altoona, the daughter of the late David and Elizabeth Loudon, and was married in 1906. She is survived by her husband; a son, Chester, and a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Cook, Both of Altoona; two grandchildren, Doris and Robert Cook; one sister, Miss Sarah E. Loudon, at home; and a brother Harry G. Loudon of Rock Island, Wash. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran church of Juniata. Alma (STIFFLER) June 17, 1997 J. ALMA DAVIS Mrs. J. Alma Davis, 83, Presbyterian Home, Hollidaysburg, died Tuesday afternoon, June 17, 1997, at Altoona Hospital. She was born July 6, 1913, in Altoona, the daughter of Lloyd E. and Eva May (Harris) Stiffler. She married John H. Davis May 23 1939, in Altoona. He died Feb. 18, 1985. Surviving are a daughter, Eve M. Baroni of Metairie, La.; a son, Jerry P. of Longwood, Fla.: and a brother, Lloyd E. Jr. of Magnolia Springs, Ala. At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing. Arrangments by Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Juniata. Interment for J. Alma Davis will be held at Grandview Cemetery. She was preceded in death by a sister, Grace Notopoulos. At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing or services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society. DAVIS Mr. Davis, 79 of 2709 3rd St. died Monday, Feb. 18, 1985, in Altoona Hospital, after a brief illness. Mr. Davis retired as a manager from Brett's Men's Shop, after 15 years' service. He was born Feb. 3, 1906, in Altoona, the son of Jeremiah S. and Nellie (Laughlin) Davis, and May 23, 1938 married Alma Stiffler. Surviving are his wife, two children, Eve Baroni of New Orleans, La., and Jerry P. of Rehoboth Beach, Del. Also surviving is a sister, Marie Fleck of Woodbury, N. J. MARY KEMMERLING of 538 Baynton avenue, South Lakemont, died yesterday morning. December 1, 1947. She was born in Altoona Feb. 1, 1885, a daughter of William and Elizabeth (Hodge) Cook. Surviving are one sister, Mrs. H. C. Lafferty of Richmond Hills, L. I.; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal church. Friends will be received at the Hickey funeral home this evening. Altoona Mirror _______________________________________________________________________ MAITLAND, David Richard, Sr. July 21, 1995 DAVID RICHARD MAITLAND SR. Of 2910 Maple Ave., died Friday morning at Altoona Hospital, Following a brief illness. He was born Feb. 4, 1922, in Altoona, the son of John and Violet E. Corrie Maitland. He married Martha E. Neher on June 8, 1946, IN Altoona. Mr. Maitland was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church.. He retired in 1986 as a construction inspection manager at the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of General Services, with 20 years of service. Mr. Maitland was a 1939 graduate of Altoona High School. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II, serving in the 8th Air Force 388 Bomb Group. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Metal with Cluster and the Good Conduct Metal. Mr. Maitland was a member of Mountain Lodge, F&AM, and served as master in 1959 and 1991, Valley of Altoona Consistory Commandary and chapter, Jaffa Shrine Temple, Calliope Clown Unit, and advisor for Al-Aska Chapter, Order of DeMolay. Surviving are his wife, a son, Rick of Altoona; A daughter, Deborah A. Burgan of Altoona; a sister, Winifred M. Goodman of Altoona; and two grandsons. Friends will be received Sunday at Warren H.
