Cornelius, 86, of RD 4, Tyrone, and a guest at Valley View Home, died Wednesday, April 7, 2004 at 11:30 p.m. at the home. He was born Feb. 7, 1918 at Grazierville, the son of Hayden and Bertha Fagley Cornelius and on Sept. 11, 1940 he was married at the Tyrone Church of the Brethren by Rev. John R. Snyder to his wife Nellie, who survives. Also surviving is a grandson, of Grazierville; a daughter-in-law, us of Tyrone; a great granddaughter; a sister, Katherine; and a brother Hayden. His son, Jerry L. Cornelius preceded him in death April 14, 2002. Also preceded by three brothers and four sisters. He was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Tyrone Lodge No. 494 F. and A.M. Scottish Rite Consistory, Valley of Altoona, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Chief Logan Forest No. 131, Jaffa Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. of Altoona, Tyrone Area Shrine Club, Bellwood Beagle Club, United Transportation Workers Union, McIntire Hunting Camp. He had been employed as a freight conductor for Conrail, retiring in 1979 after 40 years of service. Funeral service for Frank E. Cornelius will be Saturday, April 10, 2004 at 11 a.m. at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc. with Rev. Andrew T. Bradley officiating. Interment will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Altoona. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Masonic Service will be held at 7 p.m. Contributions in his memory may be made to Valley View Home, 301 Valley View Boulevard, Altoona, PA 16602.
