CORNELIUS. - On Friday, September 13, at 11 o'clock A.M., Nellie Grace, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. M. N. Cornelius, aged 11 weeks and 5 days. "MAMMA'S BABY" Where has our little baby gone, I wonder? I've sought the little darling everywhere. The crib's light, gauzy curtain I've looked under, And hoped to find her sweetly sleeping there. The pillows lay in undisturbed confusion, Just as she left them. Was it yesterday? And they perchance are touched by my delusion, And wait the tiny head that on them lay. The night is coming and her feet are weary; Those little feet, so tiny and so white, Whose home will give a shelter to my "dearie," My little baby, through the cheerless night? The house is haunted, and I vainly wander From room to room, by transient hopes beguiled, While on the mystery of death I ponder, And claim of heaven some token of my child. Where has my little baby gone, I wonder? I lift my troubled eyes with tears so dim, And see a smiling face look out from under A somber cloudlet with a silver rim. My heart must needs accept the revelation. I murmer, oh my darling, then you are Changed in the glory of a new creation! Changed to the brightness of a shining star.
