All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/blair/ _________________________________________ Martin, eldest son of Martin and Mary Corrigan, of Birmingham, was killed on the railroad at Birmingham station at 9.30 o'clock Sunday morning. The boy was gathering coal from the track when No. 11, the fast newspaper express, came upon him before he was aware of its approach. He was instantly killed, receiving a terrific blow upon the head. The remains were brought to Tyrone and were here prepared for burial. The deputy coroner, who came from Altoona, decided that an inquest was not necessary. The deceased was aged 13 years, 0 months and 27 days. He was born at Springfield Mines. The family had resided at Birmingham a few years ago, but recently lived at Sandy Ridge, from which place they returned to Birmingham two months ago. Surviving the deceased are his parents and the following brothers and sisters: Lottie and Lizzie, of Sandy Ridge; William; Harvey and Maggie, of Birmingham. The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Birmingham Methodist church, Rev. N. B. Smith conducting the services. Interment in the Methodist cemetery at Birmingham.
