COSTLOW, Veteran engineer and farmer, died at his home near Newry on Saturday at 11.50 o'clock, death being attributed to the infirmities of age. His health had been failing for several years. Mr. Costlow was born in Juniata township, Blair county, June 8, 1846. He was united in marriage with Miss Jennie Smith, who died two years ago. Early in life he was employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad company and served a number of years as an engineer. Forty years ago he retired from railroading and since that time followed farming just east of Newry. Of late years, he gave up active work on the farm but had been sexton at St. Patrick's Catholic church in Newry for a number of years. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Frank Gonsman, residing on the home farm, and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Anastasia Brooke, Mrs. Belle Burns and Charles and David Costlow of Johnstown; Mrs. Angus Creamer of Roanoke, Va., and Mrs. George Burke of Newry. He was a lifelong and consistent member of St. Patrick's Catholic church, where a requiem high mass will be solemnized Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock. Interment in St. Patrick's cemetery.
