Last evening at 6 o'clock Mrs. Francisco Counsman, wife of David Counsman, died of lung trouble at her home, 914 Howard avenue. She had been sick since last October, but previous to that time she had been in very poor health for several years. She was born in Baden, Bavaria, a province of Germany, February 16, 1844. Her maiden name was Sininger, and with her parents, she came to America and settled in Hollidaysburg about the year 1847. In the year 1850 the family moved into one of the first houses built in Altoona. November 10, 1861, the deceased was united in marriage to Mr. Counsman. Her parents have preceded her to the grave, her father dying three years ago and her mother one year ago. Besides her husband she is survived by five daughters, namely: Mrs. Clara Wolf, Mrs. Annie Crissman, Mrs. Nannie Parsons, Mrs. Sadie Steward and Mrs. Lillie Kelly, all of Altoona, and by five sons, as follows: John, William, Charles, Louis and Edward, all of this city. Mrs. Counsman leaves the following sisters and brothers: Mrs. Sallie Stout and Mrs. Annie Quinn, of Renovo, Clinton county; Mrs. Rachel Marks, Mrs. Mary Eckert and Miss Barbara Sininger, of Altoona; Theodore Sininger, of Sunbury; William Sininger, of St. Mary's, Elk county, Pa., and Joseph Sininger, of Altoona. The deceased lady was prominently identified with charitable work in the city, being active in both the Needle Work Guild and in the Quick Charity organization. She was a Catholic and a member of St. John's congregation. The funeral will take place on Wednesday morning. Requiem mass will be celebrated at St. John's church at 8:30 o'clock and the remains will be interred in St. John's cemetery.
