Cowan and lifelong resident of Morrisons cove, residing at Roaring Spring, R.D., died last night at 9.15 o'clock in the Nason hospital, death being attributed to pneumonia. She was a daughter of Adam and Mary [Nancy - ed.] (Zook) Pote and was born at Bakers Summit on Aug. 22, 1859. She was united in marriage with Mr. Cowan in the Church of God in Martinsburg by Rev. Shoop on Sept. 29, 1885. He preceded her in death in February, 1939. Mrs. Cowan was a member of the Bare Memorial Church of God for 60 years and was active in the Aid society and was a member of the Ever Ready class of the Sunday school. Surviving are three children, Mrs. Mary C. Gates of Roaring Spring, Mrs. Rhoda Stern of State College and Charles Cowan of Lancaster; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one brother, Adam Z. Pote of Bakers Summit. Two children, Lester and Paul, are deceased. Friends will be received at the Russell C. Gates home, 532 New street, Roaring Spring, after 7 o'clock this evening. COWAN - Funeral services for Mrs. Catherine (Pote) Cowan will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 2.30 o'clock in the Bare Memorial Church of God in Roaring Spring in charge of Rev. S.* H. Weigle. Interment in Greenlawn cemetery. Friends will be received at the Russell C. Gates home, 532 New street, Roaring Spring, after 7 o'clock this evening. Altoona Mirror, April 23, 1946
