All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/blair/ _________________________________________ FREDERICK EDWARD "ED" CRAIN Mr. Frederick Edward "Ed" Crain, 81, of St. Petersburg, Fla. and a former Tyrone resident, died Thursday, March 18, 2004 at 2 a.m. at Cyprus Palms Hospice Care in largo, Fla. He was born July 15, 1922 in Philipsburg, the son of Fred H. and Margaret Sensebaugh Crain, and on July 25, 1946 he was married at the First Presbyterian Church to Norma Kelly, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Kelly, wife of Jeff Wike of Tyrone, and Jeryl, wife of Charles Kannegieser of Elliotsburg; four grandchildren; and a brother, Dr. William O. Crain of Georgia. He was preceded in death by a grandchild and a brother, James R. Crain. He was a graduate of Tyrone High School Class of 1941 and had been employed at Long's Dairy, the Wilson Chemical Company, Gardner's Seabrook Blanching and retired in 1983 from the First Blair County National Bank as a cashier. He was a veteran of service during World War II as a B-29 radio operator with the 505th Bomb Group in the South Pacific. He was a member of the First English Lutheran Church, Tyrone Lodge No. 494 F. and A.M., Jaffa Shrine, Tyrone Shrine Club, Altoona Consistory, Elks Lodge No. 212, Howard Gardner Post No. 281 American Legion, and Anderson Denny Post No. 4559. He was also a member of the Altoona Zipper Club and had at one time, held membership in the Tyrone Chamber of Commerce and the Tyrone Kiwanis Club. A memorial service will be held on a date to be announced. Arrangements are under the direction of the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc.
