After a lingering illness which extended over a period of fifteen months and three days, Mr. William S. Cramer died at his home, 1124 Sixth avenue, at ten minutes of 6 o'clock Wednesday evening. Death was the result of the infirmities which are due to old age. The deceased was born in Maryland on August 16, 1818, and was consequently aged 80 years, 4 months and 12 days. While born in Maryland he spent almost all his life in Pennsylvania. Coming to Hollidaysburg he was a canal boat captain when the commercial lines were running between that place and Columbia. Then later he entered the service of the Pennsylvania Railroad company, and for thirty-four years was station-master in this city. He retired from active duties about seven years ago. On March 14, 1844, he was married in Hollidaysburg to Miss Margaret Ferry, who survives him. With the widow there are left two sorrowing children - Mrs. Laura B. Hoar and Mrs. Mary B. Daron, of this city. These brothers and sisters also survive: David T. Cramer, foreman of the coal wharves at Mifflin; George B. Cramer, of Philadelphia, where he has charge of the reading room at the Broad street station of the Pennsylvania railroad, and Mrs. Jane White, of Hollidaysburg. He also leaves six grandchildren. He was a member of the Eighth Avenue Methodist Episcopal church and also of the Pennsylvania Voluntary Relief association. Altoona Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Thursday, January 5, 1899
