Crawford, age 87, of RD 1, Sinking Valley, Tyrone, and a guest at Hollidaysburg Presbyterian Home, died Wednesday, July 9, 2003 at 2:45 a.m. at Bon Secours Holy Family Hospital, Altoona. She was born February 5, 1916 in Altoona, the daughter of William H. and Claire Pease and on March 27, 1937 at the home of the bride in Sinking Valley was married to Kenneth M. Crawford who preceded her in death January 26, 1989. She is survived by five children - Alma C. Carolus, Inman, SC; Doris Aileen Burmeister and Richard K. Crawford, both of Newark, Del; Mary E. Thounhurst, Summerville, PA and R. Stanley Crawford, Sinking Valley; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers - William, Duncansville and Richard, Lewistown. She was preceded by a brother Paul and a sister Phylis Pease. Mrs. Crawford was a member of the Sinking Valley Presbyterian Church where she had served as treasurer of the Harnish Mission Circle. She was a graduate of Bellwood High School and had attended Juniata College for two years. She was a member of the Auxiliary of the Presbyterian Home and was a volunteer for the Sinking Valley Farm Show. Her relationships with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were very important to her and she enjoyed gardening and raising orchids. Funeral service for Mrs. Doris P. Crawford will be Saturday, July 12, 2003 at 11 a.m. at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc. with Reverend Paul Pease officiating. Interment will follow in Arch Spring Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. Contributions in her memory may be made to the John Martin Fund, United Presbyterian Home, Hollidaysburg, PA 16645.
