CRAWFORD Of 2516 Fifth avenue died at his residence at 1.10 o'clock yesterday afternoon after an extended illness. He was born in Gaysport Sept. 4, 1862, a son of George W. and Jane A. (Clark) Crawford, and was a retired passenger engineer of the Pittsburgh division, having retired in 1929 after forty-nine years and seven months of service. During his career as a passenger engineer, Mr. Crawford met and was congratulated by many celebrities of the country who had boarded his train. Among these were President Theodore Roosevelt, who shook hands with him at the end of a Pittsburgh run, congratulating him on his "smooth run." He also hauled the funeral train of President McKinley, from Altoona to Pittsburgh. Mr. Crawford was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church, of Lodge No. 297, B. of L. E., the Eagles and the Moose. Mr. Crawford was twice married. His first wife, Mary E. (Coyle) Crawford, died in 1908. Surviving are his wife, Martha Jane (Newton) Crawford; two sons and one daughter, Joseph C. Crawford, Michael P. Crawford and Mrs. Harvey A. Ross, all of this city; two step-children, Cresson P. Saylor and Mrs. Catherine Askey of Altoona, and five grandchildren. Friends are being received at the home. CRAWFORD - The funeral of George C. Crawford, of 2516 Fifth avenue, will be held from the family home with services at 2 o'clock Friday in charge of Rev.
