Crilly, Brother of City Health Officer, Dies After 3 Days' Illness Alfred B. Crilly, aged 28, a well known young resident of the Seventh ward, a Pennsy chemist and brother of City Health Officer I. B. Crilly, died at his home, 214 Howard avenue, last evening at 6:45, of influenza. The young man was stricken ill late Friday night. Influenza developed Saturday. He had worked Friday and attended church that evening. He grew much worse Sunday and sank rapidly yesterday. He had been in apparently good health prior to Friday. Alfred Barry Crilly was the son of Jacob, deceased, and Amelia Crilly. He was born in this city, March 13, 1890. In 1912 he graduated from the Altoona high school and in 1916 graduated at Pennsylvania college, Gettysburg. He was a professional chemist and was employed by the Pennsy in the local laboratories several years. His mother and these brothers and sisters survive: Mrs. Charles Noll, State College; John A. Crilly, Imler; L. B. Crilly, 214 Howard avenue; S. F. Crilly, 1305 Seventh avenue, and his twin sister, Miss Alice R., at home. He was a member of Fourth Lutheran church, the P.O.S. of A. and P.R.R. Relief association. He was greatly esteemed and his sudden death created widespread surprise and regret. Private funeral services will likely be held at his late home Thursday at 3 p.m. Burial in Fairview cemetery. Altoona Tribune, Tuesday, January 21, 1919, page 12
