He had been visiting at the Gates home for the past week, was apparently in excellent health and yesterday assisted in butchering. He walked out of the kitchen to the porch about 6 o'clock, was seized with a sudden dizziness and called his daughter to assist him back into the house. He was placed on a couch and gradually grew worse until he passed away, dying in his daughter's arms. Deceased was aged 64 years and had resided for many years in the vicinity of Elberta. His wife preceded him to the grave four years ago and he is survived by four children - Mrs. Bessie Gates, at whose home he died; Miss Margaret Crissman, a school teacher at Eldorado; James, in Ohio, and another daughter residing at Mifflintown. The funeral arrangements have not been completed and will be announced later. Altoona Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Friday, December 31, 1915, page 16 Funeral Notices.
