Bechtel of 503 East Atlantic avenue, died at her home at 1:55 o'clock this morning after having been ill for the past seven months. She was born in Altoona on Oct 2, 1900 a daughter of William and Sarah (Clabaugh) Cromer. Mrs. Bechtel was a member of the Calvary Baptist church. Surviving are her husband, two daughters, Dorothy and Eloner, at home: one brother and three sisters, Mrs. Bella Heffernan of Philadelphia, Harry Cramer of Uniontown, Mrs. Cora Hare and Mrs. Margaret Litzinger, both of the city. Mrs. Bechtel reposes at the V.L. Stevens funeral home. _____ CRAMER, Catherine (McBRIDE) 1905 Altoona Mirror, 25 Sep 1905 MRS. ISAAC CRAMER, who made her home with her son, G.H. Cramer, of 103 Washington avenue, Thursday night at Nanty-Y-Glo, Cambria county, where she went about two weeks ago to visit her sister. She was aged about 65 years. Her husband died a number of years ago. She is survived by five children: G.H., William, and Mrs. Louis Johnson of Altoona, Mrs. William Law, of Philadelphia and a son in the west. The remains will be brought to Altoona for interment. Funeral Notice The remains of Mrs. Katharine Cramer, who died at Nant-Y-Glo on the 20th were brought to Altoona yesterday afternoon. The funeral will take place from the home of her son, G. H. Cramer, 103 Washington Avenue this afternoon at 3. Interment in Fairview cemetery. Mrs. Cramer was 67 years of age and is survived by six children: C. H. of Urichville, OH; William E., Geo. M., Mrs. Fremont Long, Mrs. Louis Johnson, Mrs. George Henshey of Altoona, and Mrs. William Law of Philadelphia. _____ CRAMER, Harry F., 1954 Altoona Mirror, 24 Aug 1954 HARRY F. CRAMER A retired printer, who resided with his sister, Mrs. L.F. Litzinger at 2111 6th Ave. died at the Altoona Veteran Administration hospital Sunday at 7 p.m. He was born in Altoona on Feb. 9, 1894 a son of William and Sarah (Claybaugh) Cramer. He was a veteran of World War I, having served as a sergeant first class in the quartermaster corps, U.S. army. He was a member of the Johnstown post of the American Legion and the Johnstown VFW post and the Amvets club of Johnstown. He was formerly employed by the Altoona Mirror, The Altoona Tribune and retired as a printer from the employ of the Johnstown Tribune-Democrat five years ago. He leaves two sisters, Mrs. L.F. Litzinger of Altoona and Mrs. Walter Hefferman of Philadelphia. Friends are being received at the Laughlin funeral home. _____ CROMER, George Harrison, 1953 Altoona Mirror, 16 Sep 1953 GEORGE HARRISON CROMER Of Newburg, Buckhorn road, chief of the Newburg Fire company, died at his home last evening. He was born Nov 10, 1875, in Blair county, a son of Isaac and Catherine (Smith) Cromer. He was a former pipefitter for the Pennsylvania railroad, retiring from the car shops. His wife, Mary Grace (Yingling) Cromer, died in 1946. Surviving are four sons and two daughters, William and Fremont of Wehnwood, Charles of Colts Neck N.J., George of Wilkinsburg, Mrs. Catherine Reffner of Bellwood and Mrs. Anna Whittaker of Altoona, 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mr. Cromer was a member of Christ Evangelical and Reformed church. Friends will be received at the Gilden-Barton funeral home after 7 o'clock this evening. _____ CROMER, Isaac, 1894 Altoona 7 Mar 1894 Death of Isaac Cromer at His Home on Washington Avenue Yesterday At his home, No. 80 Washington avenue, Mr. Isaac Cromer, one of the best known and oldest residents of Altoona, died at 9:05 o'clock yesterday morning of consumption, aged 62 years, 1 month and 15 days. The deceased was born in Williamsburg, this county, January 19, 1832 and came to this city in 1852. He learned the undertaking business, being the first to follow that calling regularly in this city, and continuing to be engaged in it until about fourteen years ago when he relinquished it and entered the service of the Pennsylvania railroad company in the capacity of a carpenter, being employed around the station until October last when he was compelled to cease work on account of ill health. In July of last year he was struck while engaged at the station by limited express, and while his injuries were thought at the time to be slight, he never entirely recovered from the effects of the shock, which probably aided in hastening his death. On November 23, 1854, Mr. Cromer was united in marriage to Miss. Catherine McBride of Hollidaysburg, which union resulted in the birth of ten children, three of whom preceded him to the other world. Those who survive him are his aged wife and the following children: Charles of Dennison, O; William, Mrs. William Law, Mrs. Sarah Johnson, Mrs. F. L. Long, Mrs. Ella Henchy, all of this city, and Harry at home, also by three sisters, Mrs. Sarah Cyphers and Mrs. Margaret Sorrick of Altoona and Mrs. Nancy Sorrick of Williamsburg. In his lifetime, Mr. Cromer had been a member of the Lutheran church, a charter member of the first lodge of Odd Fellows, instituted in this city and also belonged to the Knights of Pythias, but at the time of his death was not connected with any organization except the Pennsylvania Railroad Relief department. The funeral will take place from the late residence of the deceased at 2 o'clock on Thursday afternoon. Services will be conducted by Rev. Louis Robb, pastor of the Trinity Reformed church, and the interment will be made in Fairview cemetery. _____ CROMER, Sarah (CLABAUGH), 1914 Altoona Mirror, 31 Dec 1914 MRS. SARAH C. CROMER, wife of William Cromer, died at 4 yesterday afternoon, at her home, 1922 Nineteenth street, of cancer, after a long illness. She underwent an operation at the Mercy hospital on June 12, but failed to receive any benefit and was confined to her bed the last five weeks before her death. Mrs. Cromer was born in Altoona, July 7, 1860 and has lived here all her life. She was married to Mr. Cromer on June 27, ___ and is survived by her husband and these children: Harry F., Bella G., Bertha E. and Margaret E. all at home, Mrs. Luther Marks of this city, and one grandchild, Minda M. Marks. She is also survived by her mother, Mrs. Caroline Light, of 812 1/2 Green Avenue, one sister Mrs. Myrtle Roland and three brothers, Harry, Benjamin and Charles Light of this city. Three children, Mrs. Minda Marks, Robert and Eleanor, preceded their mother to the grave. She was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance and the Washington Burial association. _____ CROMER, William E., 1923 Altoona Mirror, 17 July 1923 DEATH NOTICE. WILLIAM EDWARD CROMER, died at his home, 2303 Eight avenue, last evening at 6:30 o'clock, death resulting from a complication of diseases after an illness of three weeks. He was the son of Isaac and Catharine Cromer, both deceased and was born in Altoona Aug 26, 1859. He was united in marriage with Sarah Clabaugh on Oct 2, 1875. The following children survive: Mrs. George Hare, Harry F. and Mrs. Margaret Smith, all of Altoona. Mrs. Bella G. Farren of Philadelphia and Mrs. Bertha E. Bechtel of Woodbury. The following brothers and sisters also survive: Mrs. Margaret Law of Philadelphia, Mrs. Sarah Johnson of Sunbrook, Mrs. Emma Long of Roselawn, Charles Cromer of Ohio and Harry of Altoona. Five grandchildren also survive. He was employed in the car shop department of the Pennsylvania Railroad and was a member of the Railroad Relief. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock with services in the Grace Reformed church. Hare, 846 Twenty-third street, died at her home at 9:45 o'clock Tuesday morning. Mrs. Hare was born in Altoona Nov 27, 1884, a daughter of William and Sally (Claybaugh) Cromer. Surviving are her husband one daughter, Miss Evangeline Ruth at home, a foster daughter, Mrs. E. W. Lucas, of the same address, two sisters and one brother, Mrs. L.F. Litzinger of the city, Mrs. Walter Heffernan of Philadelphia and Harry F. Cromer of Johnstown. She was a member of the Church of the Brethren and the B. of R.T. auxiliary. Friends will be received at the Laughlin funeral home after 7 p.m. Wednesday. _____ JOHNSON, Sarah (CROMER), 1951 Altoona Mirror, 18 Feb 1951 SARAH ELIZABETH JOHNSON Of 300 Frankstown road died at her home at 8 o'clock this morning. She was born in Altoona Nov. 15, 1863, a daughter of Isaac and Catherine (Smith) Cromer. Surviving are her husband, Lewis P. Johnson, five grandchildren, one brother G. H. Cromer of the city and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Schum Memorial E.U.B. church. LAW Mrs. Mollie Cromer Law, wife of William W. Law, died at her home in Philadelphia Friday morning after a short illness. Her body will be brought to Altoona this afternoon on train No. 15,arriving at 3:01 p.m. and will be taken to Rosehill cemetery for interment. Mrs. Law was born and reared in Altoona, but moved to Philadelphia a number of years ago. She is remembered by a large circle of friends here as having been one of the active workers in Trinity Reformed church. (CROMER), 1984 Altoona Mirror, 19 Oct 1984 MARGARET E. LITZINGER Mrs. Litzinger, 83, a resident of Garvey Manor, Hollidaysburg, formerly of Box 810 RD 5, died at 10:40 a.m. Thursday, Oct 18, 1984, in the manor, after a brief illness. She was born July 22, 1901, in Altoona, the daughter of William and Sarah (Claybaugh) Cromer, and was twice married, first to Alfred Smith, who preceded her in death, then on Dec 17, 1937, in Altoona to Leonard F. Litzinger. Surviving are her husband, three children: Alfred Smith Jr., Merrill Smith and Marva Stacey of Altoona: five grandchildren and a great-grandson. Also surviving is a sister, Bella Heffernan of Middletown. Mrs. Litzinger was a member of the Simpson-Temple Parish. She was a member of the Altaire Chapter, Order of Eastern Star. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the Carn Lynch Funeral Home. Services by Rev. Gerald D. Heilman. Interment in Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood. _____ LONG, Emma (CROMER), 1925 Altoona Mirror, 21 Apr 1925 MRS. EMMA LONG Mrs. Emma C. Long, wife of Freemont L. Long of 537 Fifty-third street, Roselawn, died at her home at 2 o'clock yesterday morning. She was born in this city, Sept 8, 1864, the daughter of Catherine and Isaac Cromer, both deceased and was married May 19, 1881. They resided in this city for many years and moved to their home in Roselawn thirteen years ago. In addition to her husband Mrs. Long is survived by two children: Mrs. W. D. Burget of South Altoona, and Mrs. Ruth Fluke of Roselawn. Two brothers and two sisters also survive as follows: Harry Cromer of this city, Charles of Dennison, O., Mrs. William Law of Philadelphia and Mrs. Sarah Johnson of Sunbrook. Three grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Long was a member of the Grace Reformed church, the Ladies Aid society of the congregation and the W. C. T. U. _____ MARKS, Minda M. (CROMER), 1907 Altoona Mirror, 3 Dec 1907 MRS. MINDA M. MARKS Wife of William R. Marks died at 3 o'clock last evening at her home, 3929 Burgeon road, South Altoona, after a short illness. Deceased was the daughter of William E. and Sarah Cromer, of 1922 Nineteenth street, Altoona, and was aged 25 years and 8 months. She was a member of the Reformed church and Patriotic order of Americans. She is survived by her husband and one child, her parents and these sisters: Mrs. Luther Marks of Altoona, Bertha, Bella, and Margaret all at home, and one brother Harry also at home.
