Mrs. Eliza Cunningham, Widow of Jeremiah Cunninghm, died at 12:50 o'clock this morning at her home, 2317 West Chestnut avenue, her death being caused by general debility incident to old age. Mrs. Cunningham's maiden name was Hutchison, she being the daughter of Archibald Hutchison, of Warriorsmark, Huntingdon county. She was born on April 1, 1808, and was therefore in her 86th year. Up to about twelve years ago she lived with her children in Hollidaysburg, where the family is well known. Since that time she has made her home in this city. Her final illness began on the 30th of last October, from which time she has been confined to her room. She was a consistent member of the Methodist church, although by reason of her age she has been unable to identify herself with any particular congregation of that church. Those who knew her best speak of her as a woman of great force of character and purity of life. Having been a widow for over forty years, the care of her family of eleven children, seven of whom survive her, devolved upon her, and none can impeach the manner in which she discharged her duty to those who now see a gentle Christian mother, "her sheaves all gathered, her work all done," pass to the rest she so richly deserved. The surviving children are J. J., William H., Clara and Juniata Cunningham and Mrs. Dr. Bitner, all of this city; Mrs. D. T. Caldwell, of Tyrone, and Mrs. Dr. Kimmell, of Philadelphia. She will be buried in the Presbyterian cemetery at Hollidaysburg, the funeral announcement to be made later. Altoona Mirror, Altoona, Pa., Monday, February 27, 1893
