Mrs. Elizabeth Cunningham, one of the oldest residents of Blair county, died last night at 10.30 o'clock at the residence of her son, John D. Cunningham, No. 2405 West Chestnut avenue, from old age, she being aged 84 years, 7 months and 2 days. The deceased was born in Sinking Valley in the year 1801, and resided there until 1848 when she came to Altoona, her husband having died the year previous. She has resided here ever since, making her home principally at the residence of her son John. She was a consistent member of the First Presbyterian church, a devout Christian and a kind and charitable neighbor, always doing what she could to help those in distress or assist the needy. She leaves three daughters and two sons to mourn their loss - Mrs. Nancy Reagen, Mrs. Emily Berkholder, Mrs. Kate Detwiler and John D. Cunningham of this city, Mrs. Mary Burkhart of Sugar Run, and Hamilton Cunningham of Bellwood. Altoona Tribune, Altoona, Pa., July 9, 1885
