Woods Cunningham, age 89, of Warriors Mark and a guest at Epworth Manor, died Monday, February 24, 2003 at 2:10 a.m. at the Manor. He was born March 27, 1913 in Juniata, the son of Grover C. and Florence Smith Cunningham and on June 10, 1937 at Williamsport was married to Margaret P. Wilson who survives. Also surviving are four children, Arlene Kupper of State College, Margaret (Peggy) Twiford of Meadville, John Woods Cunningham Jr. of Schertz, Texas and Patricia Ann Cunningham of Irvine, Ca. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a sister Helen Simpson of Toms River, N.J. Mr. Cunningham was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, a long time member of the BPOE #212, a member of the Howard Gardner Post #281 American Legion and had been a member of the Warriors Mark Water Authority. At one time, for several years he had been an active member of the Golden Eagle Club. He had a passion for fly fishing and hunting. He was a 1931 graduate of Tyrone High School and had attended trade school for one year and also attended Juniata College. He was a veteran of service in the U.S. Navy in World War II and prior to his retirement, he was employed at Bayer Brothers Warehouse as a printer and outside salesman. Funeral service for Mr. Cunningham will be held Thursday, February 27, 2003 at 11 a.m. at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home, with Rev. Norman Huff officiating. Interment will follow at Blair Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and from 7-9 p.m. Contributions in his memory may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Tyrone Daily Herald, February 25, 2003
