All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/blair/ _________________________________________ CURFMAN John Edward Curfman died in the Magee hospital in Pittsburgh on Tuesday, death being due to pneumonia, following an attack of influenza. The young man was a member of the student army training corps at the University of Pittsburgh and resided with his mother at Martinsburg before entering the service. The young man was inducted into the service just two weeks ago and was sent to the war college at Pittsburgh to take up technical work. He was taken ill Thursday and pneumonia developed in a few days. His mother, Mrs. Anna Curfman, was notified Saturday evening and went to his bedside Sunday, being with him when he died. The young man was born at Patton, Feb. 22, 1898, but had lived in Martinsburg the greater part of his life. His father, George H. Curfman, died some years ago. For several years he had been employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad company, working in the baggage room in this city for some time. He was a member of the Methodist church, P.O.S. of A., and the Boy Scouts. The young man had been given the rank of sergeant of supplies in the training corps a few days before his illness.
