Mr. James Curran died at the residence of his son, Mr. Charles Curran, on Mulberry street, yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock, after a brief illness of one week's duration. The deceased was born in the state of New York in the year 1812. He was a gallant veteran soldier, serving the union as a private in company M, Sixty-second regiment of Pennsylvania volunteers. At a later period in the war he was a member of the Seventy-sixth regiment. He leaves four sons to mourn his death - Allen and William Curran, of New York city, and Charles and John Curran, of this place. Mr. Curran was a tailor by occupation, but the past few years has been leading a retired life. He was a familiar figure on our streets, of a quiet and unostentatious manner and a man of many exemplary traits of character. A requiem mass will be had over the remains on Wednesday morning at 9.30 o'clock, at St. Mary's Catholic church. Interment in the Catholic cemetery.
