Mrs. Mary Daugherty, whose death occurred at her home near Ashland Furnace, Cambria county, on Saturday morning last, and whose funeral took place at Gallitzin yesterday, was the wife of Thomas Daugherty and the mother of nine children. three sons and six daughters, all of whom are living except Sarah. Christopher P., Mrs. Mary Matthews and Mrs. Rose Hanlon reside in this city. Tillie and Julia are Sisters of Mercy, and are in convents at Scranton and Pittsburgh, respectively. Her sister, Mrs. T. McTamany, of Lilly's, who is some eight years older, survives her, as do also a younger sister and brother, who reside at Pittsburgh. The deceased was born in County Derry, Ireland, and come to this country with her husband about 45 years ago, and was aged 70 years at her death. She has a large number of relations in this and Cambria counties. The immediate cause of her death was asthma, with which she was chronically affected and which had affected her very severely during the recent cold weather. May she rest in peace. At her home at Ashland Furnace, on Saturday morning last, Mrs. Mary Daugherty, wife of Thomas Daugherty, died aged 70 years. She was a native of Ireland, but for forty years or more had resided in Cambria county, where she was respected by all who knew her. For a number of years she had been a sufferer from asthma. Her husband survives her death, as do three sons and five daughters. She was the mother of Mr. Christ Daugherty, Mrs. Mary Mathews and Mrs. Felix Hanlin, of Altoona. One of her daughters is an inmate of the convent at Scranton, while another is a member of one in Pittsburgh. Mrs. Daugherty was a devoted member of the Catholic church.
