Clair William Davis, aged 31, only son of Mrs. William A. Davis of 113 Seventh street, who was killed in action in the Battle of Rome June 12, 1944, will arrive in Tyrone at 5.30 o'clock tomorrow evening, to be removed to the family home in Altoona where friends will be received after 7 o'clock tomorrow evening. The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon in the First Church of the Brethren, with military honors accorded the veteran. Interment will be made in the Antis cemetery. Sgt. Davis was born in Bellwood Sept. 8, 1912, a son of William A. and Minnie (Root) Davis, and grew to young manhood there, coming to Altoona with his parents. Before entering the army he was employed in the Altoona works as a mechanic in the Fourth street shops. On June 10, 1942, he entered the army, being assigned to the medical corps.
